Why does MainTop keep showing “MainTop RIP Port Monitor installation is failed!” when I try to install it?
This error appears when installing MainTop on an unsupported ARM processor. MainTop requires an Intel or AMD x86 CPU.
When installing MainTop RIP software, you may see the following error message:
“MainTop RIP Port Monitor installation is failed!”
This error is not caused by a bad installer, missing files, or incorrect Windows settings.
It is almost always caused by running MainTop on a computer that uses an ARM-based processor, such as a Snapdragon CPU.
MainTop is built exclusively for x86 Windows systems (Intel and AMD processors). Because ARM systems use a different instruction set, MainTop’s drivers—especially the RIP Port Monitor—cannot install or function.
Why This Error Happens
MainTop relies on:
- x86-only USB communication drivers
- Legacy Windows print port modules
- x86-compiled libraries
- Device initialization files that cannot be emulated
When run on an ARM processor, Windows attempts to emulate some x86 code—but the low-level RIP Port driver cannot be translated.
This causes the installation to fail immediately.
This is why ARM laptops often show:
- Failed installation
- Missing buttons in MainTop
- Unable to detect DTF printers
- Driver import errors
- Crash on startup
- “Missing DLL” messages
Even if MainTop opens, it will not function properly.
How to Confirm You’re Using an ARM Processor
On your Windows computer:
- Open Settings
- Go to System → About
- Look for System Type
You will see one of the following:
- “64-bit OS, x64-based processor” → ✔ Intel/AMD (SUPPORTED)
- “ARM-based processor” → ✖ ARM (NOT SUPPORTED — will cause this error)
If your system says ARM, MainTop will fail every time.
How to Fix the Error
Solution 1 — Use a Computer With Intel or AMD
This is the only reliable fix.
Minimum recommended specs:
- Intel i3 / Ryzen 3 or better
- Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
- 8GB RAM minimum
- USB-A port for printer connection
This will allow MainTop to install normally.
Solution 2 — Return or Replace the ARM Laptop
Many customer support cases involve users accidentally purchasing ARM-based Windows laptops.
Stores will often accept returns if the laptop cannot run required software.
Solution 3 — Using a Virtual Machine (NOT recommended)
Running an x86 VM on ARM rarely works for MainTop because:
- USB passthrough fails
- RIP drivers cannot load
- White-channel processing crashes
It can be used temporarily for testing, but not for production.
Important Note
This error has nothing to do with:
- Admin permissions
- Antivirus
- Missing Windows updates
- Wrong installer version
- Corrupted files
It is purely a CPU architecture incompatibility.
Summary
If you see:
“MainTop RIP Port Monitor installation is failed!”
you are almost certainly using an ARM-based Windows computer, which MainTop is not designed to run on.
Switching to an Intel or AMD x86 PC will resolve the issue instantly.
