Daily maintenance helps prevent ink buildup, protects the printheads, and ensures the printer is properly sealed before shutdown.
Step-by-Step Procedure1) Turn On the Maintenance Light
- Turn on the maintenance light to clearly see the maintenance area.
2) Move the Carriage to the Maintenance Bay
- Press and hold the left arrow.
- Move the carriage fully to the left-side maintenance bay.
3) Prepare Cleaning Materials
- Use Kodak cleaning solution.
- Use a lint-free cloth.
Important: Only use the recommended cleaning solution. Using other solutions may damage the printhead or cause ink to coagulate.
4) Clean the Capping Station Area
- Clean all ink residue from the capping area.
- Clean the rubber seal around the top of the cap.
- Clean the rubber wiper blade.
Cleaning Tip: Start with a dry lint-free cloth to soak up as much ink as possible, then follow with a damp cloth lightly soaked in cleaning solution.
5) Clean the Left Maintenance Bay and Carriage Underside
- Clean around the printheads only.
- Do not wipe the printhead nozzle surface unless instructed by a technician.
- Remove all dried ink and debris.
- Clean the entire underside of the carriage thoroughly.
If your machine includes a mirrored inspection surface, use it to verify the underside is fully clean.
6) Fill the Caps Using Auto Wet Cap
- Press and hold the Auto Wet Cap button.
- When you hear the motors engage, you will see cleaning solution begin filling the caps.
- Continue holding the button until the caps are visibly filled.
7) Return the Carriage to the Caps
- Press the Home button.
- Allow Hosonsoft to return the carriage onto the caps.
- Visually confirm the caps are pressed up against the printheads, creating a tight seal.
8) Close Software
- Close the Hosonsoft application first.
- Wait for it to completely close.
9) Power Down the Printer
- Verify the caps are in the upward position.
- Locate the Printer Power switch on the rear right side of the printer.
- Flip the Printer Power switch to OFF.
10) Close Covers
- Close all printer covers to minimize dust entering the print area.
Daily maintenance and shutdown are now complete.
