Hyper DTF – Daily Startup Procedure

This article outlines the recommended startup procedure for Hyper DTF printers.

Following this routine helps ensure:

  • stable ink flow

  • proper white ink circulation

  • healthy printheads

  • consistent print quality

This procedure should be performed each day before starting production.

Startup Workflow

Follow this sequence when starting the printer:

Turn on printer

10 minutes white ink circulation

15 second Load Ink

2× Medium Clean

Nozzle Check

Step 1 – Turn On the Printer

Power on the printer using the main power switch.

Once powered on:

  • the printer will initialize

  • white ink circulation will begin

Allow the printer to circulate white ink for approximately 10 minutes before running any maintenance cycles.

This helps prevent white ink settling and ensures proper ink flow.

Step 2 – White Ink Circulation (10 Minutes)

White ink is heavier than CMYK ink and can settle over time.

Allowing the printer to circulate white ink for 10 minutes helps:

  • remix white pigment

  • stabilize ink pressure

  • prepare the system for printing

Do not begin cleaning cycles immediately after turning on the printer.

Step 3 – Run Load Ink (15 Seconds)

Open PrintEXP and run the Load Ink function.

Run this for approximately:

15 seconds

This helps:

  • refill dampers

  • stabilize ink pressure

  • prepare the printheads for cleaning

Step 4 – Run Cleaning Cycles

Run two medium cleaning cycles.

Recommended sequence:

Medium Clean

Medium Clean

This clears any partially dried ink from the nozzles.

Avoid running excessive cleaning cycles, as this wastes ink and fills the waste tank.

Step 5 – Perform a Nozzle Check

Run a Nozzle Check from PrintEXP.

Inspect the test pattern and confirm:

  • all nozzles are firing

  • no missing lines

  • no heavy deflection

If the nozzle check is clean, the printer is ready for production.

If the Nozzle Check Is Not Perfect

If missing nozzles appear:

  1. Run another medium clean

  2. Perform another nozzle check

Repeat only as necessary.

Avoid excessive cleaning cycles.

Best Practices

To maintain consistent print quality:

  • perform this startup routine every day before printing

  • avoid skipping the circulation time

  • verify nozzle checks before beginning production

Proper startup procedures significantly reduce printhead clogging and ink flow issues.
